OS Command Center

A weekend website became an operations application for the work behind every rental.

A weekend website.
An operations application.

  • Website
  • Operations product design
  • Fleet + customer workspaces
  • Reservations + tasks
  • Guided inspections

The website was done. Then came the real question.

It started as a weekend project to build a luxury rental website. Once the site was finished, the conversation changed: how were we going to manage the rentals?

The public-facing experience was only one part of the business. Behind every vehicle listing was a customer to qualify, a reservation to organize, a car to prepare and a handoff to manage.

That question became OS Command Center: an operations application for the work behind a luxury rental business.

How are we going
to manage rentals?

A rental is more than a date on a calendar.

We mapped the work around customers, vehicles and reservations. Each has its own state: a vehicle can be available while the customer still needs approval, or a reservation can exist while preparation remains unfinished.

The product design keeps those decisions distinct. It gives the team a way to work through intake, reservation changes, preparation and inspection without treating a booking as the end of the process.

Bring the day’s work into view.

The working MVP brings a Today dashboard, fleet records, customer intake, reservations and operations tasks into one staff workspace. The dashboard surfaces a timeline, items needing attention and readiness information.

Fleet records support searching and editing vehicle details. Customer and lead intake organizes the information behind a rental. Reservation workflows and assignable tasks give the team a sequence to work through.

The interface was designed for the person coordinating the day, with the details of a vehicle or reservation close to the work that needs attention.

Take the workflow out to the car.

Rental operations move between the desk and the vehicle. We designed customer intake for tablet use and developed guided inspection workflows with progress through photo zones.

The inspection design gives staff a consistent sequence to follow. The broader specification extends that approach into before-and-after comparisons and human review of possible damage.

That distinction matters: guided inspection progress is part of the working MVP; the full inspection and reporting vision remains a larger development scope.

A working foundation. More to connect.

The command center is a working MVP. Its current workflows use browser-local records while shared operational data is being developed.

Payment and signature integrations remain unfinished. The broader scope includes financial and insurance-related workflows, but those connections are not presented as live capabilities.

The project grew from a website into a more complete understanding of what the business needed to operate. That understanding continues to guide development.
